Ukraine Updates Its Solar Rules: What Homeowners Should Know Before Going Solar
Aug 18, 2026

Your Roof Isn't the Only Place Your Home Can Generate Solar Power

Ukraine has updated the rules for household solar systems up to 30 kW under its Green Tariff scheme. The new rules define the hours when electricity from these systems can qualify for Green Tariff payments. From April 1 to October 31, the eligible period is 04:00 to 23:00. From November 1 to March 31, it is 06:00 to 21:00. Electricity outside these periods is purchased at the applicable hourly day-ahead market price.

For homeowners, this update brings a practical question into focus: how can a home make better use of solar power while keeping electricity costs under control?

This is where SpolarPV BIPV solar panels offer a practical approach.

Your Home Could Be Generating More Solar Power Than You Think

Many homeowners start with one question: Where can I install solar panels?

The roof is the obvious answer. But it may not always provide enough suitable space.

SpolarPV brings Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) into more parts of the home. Instead of limiting solar generation to traditional rooftop systems, SpolarPV BIPV solutions can be used across different residential spaces, including:

  • BIPV roofs for larger solar generation areas
  • Solar balconies for homes and apartments with limited roof space
  • Garden solar applications for suitable outdoor structures

This creates a more complete approach to residential solar: roof + balcony + garden.

Solar Power Is About More Than Selling Electricity

With SpolarPV BIPV solutions, suitable parts of a property can become part of the home's solar system. This can be especially useful when roof space is limited or when homeowners want to explore additional areas for solar generation.

The idea is simple:

More suitable space → more opportunities to generate solar power.

And when a home generates its own electricity, it may need to purchase less electricity from the grid. Actual savings will depend on electricity use, solar generation, local electricity prices, and local regulations. However, the purpose remains practical: use solar power to help reduce the amount of electricity your home needs to buy.

One Home, More Solar Opportunities

Traditional solar panels are often added to a building after the building has been designed. BIPV takes a different approach by integrating solar generation into the building itself. For homeowners and building professionals, this can open up more possibilities for residential solar design.

SpolarPV BIPV solutions can help combine:

Solar generation + building space + modern design

Instead of treating solar panels as equipment added to a home, BIPV makes solar part of the building. This is especially useful for projects where appearance, available space, and energy generation all need to be considered together.
